Born 1977 in Lund, Sweden – lives and works in Malmö, Sweden and São Paulo, Brazil

The artist Runo Lagomarsino examines in his artworks colonial histories. Born to Argentinian parents in Sweden, the artist’s grandparents himself migrated during the First World War from Italy. Migration, movement and the process of arriving and settling are topics sensitively addressed and examined through a different range of media like installation, performance, video, photography and drawing. Carefully combining those, the artist traces processes and historical data referring to Spain´s conquests of the “New World” and its lasting impact on contemporary events. Lagomarsino has exhibited internationally, his artworks are part of various collections, such as the Moderna Museet in Stockholm, the Malmö Art Museum, the National Museum of Art in Oslo, the Guggenheim in New York or the Cisneros Fontanals Art Foundation in Miami. In 2010 the artist was awarded with the Cisneros Fontanals Art Foundation, Grants & Commissions Program.
