Originally trained as a painter the Japanese artist Tatsuo Miyajima creates at the point of contact between installation, sculpture and technology. The artist’s subtle use of technical elements became a central aspect of his oeuvre. Miyajima early used light emitting diodes in the 1980s, pioneering in integrating technologies in fine arts. Operating with light, movement and customized digital elements became characteristic for the artist´s oeuvre at an early stage, reflecting the constant change of our world, that is shaped more and more by a technocratic society and its ideas and concepts.
