Born 1951 in Vienna, Austria – lives and works in Vienna, Austria
The Austrian artist Rudolf Polansky works cross-fields as a painter, sculptor, photographer and filmmaker, using primarily the materials plexiglass, metal, resin, wire and foam. These are often put together in an associative way to compose objects to comprehensive room installations. His sculptures or “Ad-hoc-Synthese” as the artist calls this approach, create seemingly steady objects, that are often uncovered as unstable constructions of a subjective reality. Ideas of transformation, non-linearity and symmetry are challenged by his artworks and question the idea of space, exploring the concept of “positive-space” and “negative-space”. Rudolf Polanszky has internationally exhibited and was presented recently with a solo show at the Secession Vienna in 2018.
