Born 1970 in Tübingen, Germany – lives and works in Berlin, German

The works by the German artist Anselm Reyle are characterized by their usage of found objects. Window decoration, car paint and colour paste, foil and garbage are appropriated, changed optical and later put in a different context. The materials are losing their original purpose and create a new shape and meaning. The artist’s works are a delicate balancing act between the familiar and dissociation, as they reveal in some parts its original material and thereby their former function and at the same time establish associative spaces. With this versatile surface landscape Reyle challenges the beholder´s eye, encouraging the viewer to analyze and internalize. Reyle´s oeuvre has been exhibited globally and the artist’s works are included in many public and private collections, such as of the Nationalgalerie Staatliche Museen in Berlin and the Centre Pompidou as well as at the Sammlung Boros in Berlin, the Fondation Louis Vuitton, the Rubell Family Collection in Miami, among others.
