Anneliese Schrenk’s artworks ingeniously extent the concept of sculpture and are characterized by their sensual surface. The beholder gets drawn into a wide landscape of a seemingly uni-coloured surface, that under closer observation turns out to be leather. Leather, that comes from industry and has marks and holes, that is “incorrectly produced” and thus not for sale. Schrenk uses those to stretch them on frames, exposing their consistency and surface, that appear as a detailed structure landscape of endless tiny cracks and gaps.
