*1941 in Château-Arnoux, France.
Lives and works in New York, USA.
In 1963, VENET crafted his first sculpture, a pile of carbon; shortly after his first stay in New York and his first confrontation with Minimalart, he started to draw and design sculptures out of pipes. In his drawings VENET integrates mathematical formulas. He is fascinated by their aesthetics and rational logic. In the 1970s and 1980s, VENET experiments by contrasting these strict formulas with linear object made of massive steel. Hereby he creates a completely new perception towards space and sets an absolute turning point in the history of modern sculpture.
